Plan
Signature

A signature plan to shape the future of District Central
District Central has embarked on an emblematic transformation, designed to stand the test of time and make a lasting mark on its territory. Landscaping, greening, urban design and sustainable development... all dimensions that converge to create a dynamic, inspiring and inclusive ecosystem.

A meaningful identity project

How do you go from an industrial area to a green business district? In light of numerous consultations, the SDC District Central and its partners will be implementing a series of initiatives between now and 2028 to create stimulating living environments, see the growth of fruitful businesses and foster real sustainable development.

Actions that redefine the neighborhood

The Fonds Signature finances projects that transform District Central by meeting today's challenges of attractiveness, sustainability and quality of life. These initiatives fall into three main categories:

LANDSCAPE INTERVENTIONS

Enhance biodiversity through green spaces and leisure areas designed in collaboration with property developers. These zones invite workers and residents to make the area their own, while enhancing their quality of life.

PUBLIC ART AND URBAN FURNITURE

Integrate works of art and design elements to embellish the area, reflect its unique identity and enhance its industrial heritage. Created by local artists, these creations celebrate the district's past while embodying its current vitality.

HERITAGE SIGNAGE

Provide directions to passersby while telling the story of the neighborhood. Interactive displays and historical objects remind visitors of Chabanel's significant textile past and its current transformation into a dynamic business district.

Our ambition

By 2040, our collective ambition is to become the greenest borough in Montreal.

That’s why the SDC District Central is focusing its efforts on these levers of change:

Showcase the vitality of our
trendsetting territory
Grow our business sectors:
design, urban manufacturing and technology
Become a pivotal area on Montreal’s economic scene
Facilitate the District’s accessibility and mobility
Give the neighbourhood a life of its own
Bank on sustainable development and a circular economy
