Campus Relève: A Successful First Edition Connecting Emerging Talent with Careers in Design and Fashion

On April 10, District Central was the meeting point between tomorrow's talent and today's companies, thanks to the first edition of Campus Relève, an event designed to introduce students to the many professions in the design and fashion sector. The event was a success: over 100 young people from a number of educational institutions - including Cégep Marie-Victorin, Collège LaSalle and ESG UQAM's École supérieure de mode - signed up for an immersive day at the heart of the district's businesses.
A Day to Explore, Learn, and Be Inspired
Conceived as a bridge between local companies and the next generation of professionals, Campus Relève aimed to shed light on often overlooked yet highly promising careers in design and fashion. Throughout the day, participants visited key businesses in District Central, engaged with passionate professionals, and explored the inner workings of local creativity, production, and innovation.

Company Tours, a HR Panel, and Networking Opportunities
In addition to company visits, a lunchtime HR panel brought together recruitment experts from the design sector. Students received practical and valuable advice to help them land internships or kick-start their careers. The day wrapped up on a high note with a networking cocktail — a perfect setting for informal exchanges between students and industry professionals.

A Response to Today’s Local Production Challenges
In an economic context marked by supply chain disruptions, growing environmental concerns, and a shift toward more conscious consumption, local production stands out as a forward-looking solution. However, producing locally goes beyond manufacturing goods — it also requires a skilled and motivated workforce. The sustainability of jobs tied to local production is directly linked to our ability to inspire new vocations and build a strong next generation of workers.
District Central, known for its design sector, is fully aligned with this vision. By launching an initiative like Campus Relève, the SDC District Central aims not only to showcase often-overlooked professions — such as sewing, pattern making, or production technology — but also to create a platform that supports the transmission and longevity of these essential skills.
A Collective Effort to Support the Industry’s Future
This event would not have been possible without the generous involvement of several District Central businesses: Accent Labels, Attraction, Cansew, Indyeva, Maison Marie Saint-Pierre, Moose Knuckles, and Pilgrim, all of whom welcomed students into their workplaces.
Special thanks to our partner mmode, whose collaboration was instrumental in bringing this event to life. With their support, Campus Relève delivered a rich and meaningful experience to all participating students.
