OPUS & Cie Discount – Employers

With the OPUS & Cie – Employers program, an employer can offer its employees a discount on the purchase of an annual public transit pass (minimum discount of 4.16% up to a maximum of 90%).In addition to the employer discount, the STM agrees to match that discount ranging from 4.16% to a maximum of 10% (discount offered by the STM depends on the employer contribution). The OPUS & Cie program is available to employees travelling by bus and metro throughout the STM network.

Through this social benefit offered to its employees, the employer benefits from a tax credit, in addition to enhancing their corporate image. On the one hand, it encourages employees to favour public transportation and, on the other hand, it offers an equitable contribution to all employees. This incentive can also be a determining factor in the shift to public transit.

For employers, Communauto offers the first year free ($400) to businesses that sign up for the Value Extra plan.

Benefits of Sustainable Mobility

When referring to the sustainable mobility of people, it generally includes public transportation (bus, carpooling and car sharing) and active transportation (biking and walking).

Environement

Sustainable mobility reduces the nuisances caused by individual modes of transportation (solo driving) such as the reduction of noise pollution and atmospheric pollutants, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Health

Thanks to physical activity and a decrease in sedentary lifestyles, the use of active and public transportation provides many health benefits, including reduced stress, weight or cardiovascular health risks.

Economy

The use of active and public transportation results in significant economic gains from reduced traffic congestion, reduced infrastructure and network maintenance costs, and increased road safety.

Outreach and Certification

Prix Leaders en Mobilité Durable

For the past 15 years, the CGD métropolitains have been organizing the Prix Leaders en mobilité durable to recognize organizations that, over the past year, have distinguished themselves by their actions among their staff, clients or student community. To register your organization, sign up for the CGD métropolitains newsletter or follow MOBA on social media.

Vélosympathique

The mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE offers certification, tools and support services to encourage communities and organizations to develop a true cycling culture across Quebec.

“A VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE-certified organization is one that expresses its social responsibility for sustainability and a healthy lifestyle by promoting active modes of transport over car usage, which produces GHG emissions.”

The organization is also reaping real benefits in terms of money and space by replacing car parking with bike parking.

Eco-Friendly Parking

The démarche Stationnement écoresponsable targets the eco-friendly management, development and regulation of parking areas. It is primarily intended for parking lot owners and managers.

“In addition to significantly intensifying the heat island effect, poorly designed parking areas cause storm water management problems and encourages the use of solo cars.”

Obtaining certification provides personalized follow-up and greater visibility in addition to enjoying the benefits of sustainable parking management and design:

  • Reduces management costs and increases economic benefits
  • Increases the safety of users and the positive effects on health
  • Improves the quality of the environment
  • Promotes alternative mobility options
