The Société de Développement Commercial (SDC) District Central is an organization that values your privacy and the protection of your personal information.

This Privacy Policy is designed to inform you of our practices for the collection, use, disclosure, destruction, and retention of personal information.

1. Who we are and what we do

The Société de Développement Commercial (SDC) District Central wishes to harmonize the business world by creating bridges between the various communities working and living in the District Central neighbourhood.

2. What personal information do we collect?

As part of our services, when you visit our websites www.metamorphose.district-central.ca and www.district-central.ca and when you communicate with us in other ways, we may collect and process various types of personal information about you, including:

  • Personal details such as first and last name;
  • Contact information (mailing address, email address and telephone number);
  • Communication preferences (spoken language);
  • Any other information voluntarily provided to us by email.

If you are under the age of 14, you should not provide us with any confidential information without the express consent of a parent or guardian.

We collect your personal information in a number of ways:

  • Governmental, regulatory or law enforcement agencies when we are required to disclose such information or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable laws.

6. How long do we keep personal information?

We will retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the personal information was communicated to us and for all compatible or related authorized purposes.

We will cease using and storing your personal information once the intended purposes have been accomplished, all subject to the application of legal or regulatory retention periods.

7. Where do we store personal information or international transfers?

Your personal information is only intended for persons or entities established in Quebec. Your information is, thus, hosted on our servers and/or those of our IT service provider located in Quebec.

However, some of our service providers are located in other countries (i.e. France and the United States). You therefore agree to the transfer of your personal information to countries or provinces other than your province of residence where the rules governing the protection of personal information may be different.

Nonetheless, we ensure that these providers provide adequate protection in accordance with generally accepted industry standards to protect personal information.

8. How do we protect personal information?

We recognize that the security of information is an integral part of the confidentiality of personal information.

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the information submitted to us in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.

As such, we maintain reasonable physical, technical, or procedural safeguards to protect your personal information against the unlawful consultation, use, disclosure and destruction and any other privacy breach that does not comply with applicable legislation.

All member of the SDC District Central and third-party suppliers whose service we may retain and who process personal information on our behalf are also contractually bound to respect the confidentiality of your personal information.

9. Links to other sites

SDC District Central websites may contain hyperlinks to other sites. Information exchanged on these sites is not subject to this Privacy Policy, but to that of the external site concerned if one exists. We encourage you to consult that site's privacy policy before disclosing your personal information to third parties.

10. What are your rights regarding your personal information?

10.1 Rights of access, correction, or withdrawal of consent

To access your personal information, to request a modification of your personal information or to withdraw your consent to the disclosure or use of your personal information, you must submit a written request to the privacy officer at the SDC District Central (contact information is provided at the end of this Policy).
A correction request must be particularly precise and correctly identify you to allow the SDC District Central to correct or adequately complete the personal information deemed incorrect or incomplete.
A request for the withdrawal of consent will result in the termination of services offered by the SDC District Central for the person concerned.

10.2 Processing of requests

The SDC District Central will respond to requests for access, correction, or withdrawal of consent within 30 days, in accordance with the timelines prescribed by the Private Sector Privacy Act.

Any necessary assistance shall be reasonably provided to persons concerned who want to gain access to their personal information or correct this information, including clarifying exactly what they are looking for.

Depending on the amount of information requested in an access request, a nominal fee may reasonably be charged to cover the cost of responding to the request.

Written notification shall be provided if the SDC District Central must deny a person access to their personal information for legal, regulatory, or other reasons.

10.3 Your recourse before the Commission d’Accès à l’Information

If you are not satisfied with how the SDC District Central treated your request for access or the rectification of your personal information, in particular in the event of no response or an unsatisfactory response, you can submit a request to examine a disagreement to the Commission d’Accès à l’Information.

11. How do we use cookies?
