Montreal, June 8, 2022 — The Société de développement commercial (SDC) District Central unveiled and officially launched the new HR Services project at its networking event between District Central employers and employability organizations.

With the financial participation of the Government of Quebec and supported by a network of partners and a community of local experts and consultants, the project will allow the SDC to be on the ground to specifically address the labour shortage facing District Central businesses. The SDC will be responsible for gathering the necessary information to paint an accurate picture of human resources in the district, to identify the needs and their solutions. Based on the requirements identified, the SDC will make businesses aware of the existing services of its employability partners. Collaboration mechanisms will be created to refer businesses to the right partners.

“Coaching and supporting businesses is an important strategy of our government. The financial support granted to the SDC District Central is a concrete example of our commitment. This approach will allow businesses facing labour recruitment difficulties to express their needs and for new human resources services to provide concrete solutions, thereby contributing to the vitality of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, a key borough in Montreal,” stated M. Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Minister of Immigration, Francization, and Integration and Minister Responsible for the Mauricie Region.

“When visiting local businesses in recent years, we quickly realized, not surprisingly, that human resources are one of their main challenges. We also realized that the existing services offered by experts and partners in employability was often unknown. This project is therefore a first step not only to document the issue but to refer employers to the proper resources. The SDC’s objective is to complete the existing human resources support offering and to provide services adapted to the reality of businesses in the territory,” said Delia De Gasperis, Chairman of the SDC’s Board of Directors.

For the SDC, the Government of Quebec’s support for this initiative for the next year is a great recognition of the District Central as an economic hub. All local employers are invited to contact  the SDC to find out more and take advantage of these new services.
