Recap – Budget General Assembly (BGA) 2025
On September 25, the SDC District Central held its 2025 BGA, an important annual event for the organization. SDC members have the privilege of voting on the annual budget proposed by their peers serving on the Board of Directors.
Here are the highlights:
- The latest impact report produced by the SDC shows that the results are very good, and that the strategies are working to develop the area and its businesses;

- To explain the 2025 budget, SDC treasurer Laetitia Bedout explained the variances compared to the 2024 forecasts;
- The largest variance is explained by revenues and expenses from the Fonds signature métropole for the deployment of phase 3 of the District Central Signature Action Plan;
- $800,000 will come from public funds (grants);
- Stable since 2020, membership dues will increase at a reasonable rate in 2025:
- Minimum : from $75 to $86.47 for small premises
- Maximum : from $900 to $1037.70 for large surface areas
- The SDC is working on several financial levers to ensure the scope and sustainability of its actions, in particular on increasing the financial participation of property owners;
- The members of the assembly finally adopted an operating budget of $2,018,855.14.
To raise the profile of District Central's business hubs, this year the SDC partnered with the M.A.D. Festival - fashion, art and entertainment - last August.
Board President Delia De Gasperis took the opportunity to review 2024's successes to date. In particular:
- A grant of $1 million over 3 years from the Fonds signature métropole
- District Central's participation in the M.A.D. Festival, showcasing local designers in a photo exhibit.
- The creation of two new murals on the territory
- The 250 business connections through the Connector of Opportunities project
- The new discovery breakfast meetings to welcome businesses to the neighborhood
- The mobilization around the Special Urban Planning Program (PPU) for District Central
Major projects will continue to be launched in 2025. These include:
- Launch of the communication platform for businesses
- Deployment of phase 3 of District Central's Signature Action Plan
- The return of La Prairie Louvain and District Central's ephemeral space, Esplanade Louvain
- Networking events for businesses
