Employers who select the Extra plan enjoy the first year of membership at no cost (valued at $400).

Benefits of Sustainable Mobility

Sustainable mobility generally refers to all forms of public transportation (such as buses, carpooling, and carsharing) as well as active modes of travel (like walking and cycling).

Environment
Sustainable mobility reduces the negative impacts of individual car use (solo driving), including noise pollution and atmospheric emissions, such as greenhouse gases (GHGs).

Health
Active and public transportation promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior, providing multiple health benefits, including lower stress, reduced overweight, and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Economy
Active and public transportation also bring significant economic benefits: reduced traffic congestion, lower maintenance costs for infrastructure, and improved road safety.

Outreach and Certification

Prix Leaders en Mobilité Durable

For 19 years, the CEMs of the metropolitan region have hosted the Prix Leaders en mobilité durable celebrating organizations that have distinguished themselves over the past year by encouraging sustainable travel among employees, clients, or students. To enter your organization, subscribe to the Metropolitan Region CEMs newsletter or follow MOBA on social media.

Vélosympathique

The VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement provides certification, resources, and support to encourage communities and organizations throughout Quebec to develop a genuine cycling culture.
“A VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE-certified organization shows its commitment to sustainability and healthy living by prioritizing active transportation instead of car travel.”

Eco-Friendly Parking

The démarche Stationnement écoresponsable promotes sustainable management, design, and regulation of parking areas. It is primarily aimed at parking owners and managers.

“In addition to significantly increasing the effects of urban heat islands, poorly designed parking lots create stormwater management problems and encourage reliance on solo car use.”

Certification provides personalized guidance and high visibility, along with the benefits of sustainable parking management and design, including:

  • Reduced management costs and increased economic benefits;
  • Improved user safety and positive health effects;
  • Enhanced environmental quality;
  • Encouragement of alternative mobility options.
