Anima
What if a construction site became an opportunity for urban renewal? That's the aim of the ANIMA project, with a 120-foot palisade transformed into a work of art along Rue Meilleur. By replacing the usual visual blight with vibrant cladding, this initiative beautifies the neighborhood and enhances the experience of passers-by, residents and workers alike, while enhancing the image of District Central. A great example of how art can transform spaces in the midst of change.
The artwork
Spanning 120 feet in length, Infinities presents eight iterations of a common motif, which dialogue with each other through their shape, positioning and distinctive color. Evoking themes of the sublime and cyclicality, Infinities imagines each colorful composition as a portal, leaving the empty spaces to be interpreted by each viewer's imagination.
Artist biography
Montreal artist Marlon Kroll explores perception, fiction and the supernatural through his work. The son of a medium, he is interested in how immanence, heritage, enchantment and myth come to life through the creative act. His practice, centered on sculpture, contextual installations, drawing and ephemeral objects, enables him to rethink the world. By merging science and folklore, he imagines spiritual and material possibilities that question the nature of our current existence.
