THE DISTRICT CENTRAL

The District Central is Montreal’s 4th largest employment hub generating more than 25,000 jobs in a growing business ecosystem and has the potential to accommodate up to 40,000 workers. The district boasts a variety of industries and draws on three business pillars: the textile industry shifting to design, the factories transitioning to urban manufacturing and technology anchoring itself firmly in the area. The District Central covers a three-square-kilometre area bounded by Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Sauvé Street, Highway 15 and Highway 40. Montreal’s new business district is HERE.

THE SDC IS HIRING!

The SDC is looking for a dynamic and committed candidate who will act as an ambassador for the territory and its members in the position of Communications, Marketing and Events Manager (maternity leave replacement).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent will be responsible for communications by establishing an efficient and innovative communications plan adapted to the needs of the territory and its members. He or she will coordinate various activities and work closely to establish the strategic vision of the SDC with the support of the Marketing and Relationship Intelligence Coordinator under his/her supervision. The main responsibilities of the position include:

TASKS RELATED TO COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

  • Define, create, implement and optimize efficient communication strategies related to the development and animation of the territory, but also related to the promotion of SDC members and the District’s main industry hubs.
  • Create relevant and original content in line with the objectives defined in the communication strategies.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of the content required to meet the SDC’s communication, marketing, and event objectives.
  • Supervise and participate in the animation of various social media platforms to ensure the SDC’s outreach to various audiences.
  • Use the range of communication tools available to promote members (website, newsletter, press releases, social networks, media partners, etc.).
  • Oversee the successful delivery of advertising campaigns and analyze results.
  • Ensure the consistency of the District Central’s visual identity across various communication tools.
  • Assist the executive director and the chair of the board in positioning the organization and its public role.
  • Ensure media relations, develop media partnerships, and maintain ongoing relations with them.
  • Organize and facilitate focus groups on the District’s various marketing initiatives.
  • Manage relations with external partners (communications and media agency, photographers, social media manager, translator, etc.) with respect to mandate requirements, follow-up, negotiation of agreements and deliverables).
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the position, in addition to other related tasks deemed relevant (annual report, service offer, budget follow-up, monthly report, correction and translation of various documents).

TASKS RELATED TO EVENTS

  • Develop, organize, and coordinate activities, events and press conferences in the territory in collaboration with members and various partners.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of events and recommend interventions to improve activities. Produce post-mortem event reports.

TASKS RELATED TO THE ROLE OF MANAGER

  • Support the Marketing and Business Intelligence Coordinator with data development, implementation and updating. Assist with statistical monitoring of members and their needs (CRM Eudonet, survey), the territory and its development dynamics (traffic counters, surveys, studies, Google Ads) and the organization’s communications (social networks, media partners, newsletter and Google analytics), and jointly draw up recommendations based on the collected statistics;
  • Support the communications, marketing and events project manager in setting up events (corporate and regional), negotiating contracts and communications (visuals, social networks, newsletter, posters, etc.).

CONDITIONS

Start date: May 27, 2024
Salary based on experience.
Mostly weekday daytime, occasional evening, and weekend availability
Remote work possible

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (communications, marketing, public relations) or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years experience in communications, marketing and events
  • Experience in web development management (creation, site redesign, and member spaces)
  • Experience as a team manager
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and popularize structured, clear and relevant arguments
  • Excellent knowledge of social media and its analytical tools
  • Experience working with email platforms (MailChimp), marketing automation platforms, customer relationship management tools (CRM); knowledge of Eudonet (asset)
  • Experience working with WordPress content management platform
  • Knowledge of design software (Photoshop or InDesign) (asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • A strong interest in the business, real estate, commercial and cultural sectors (asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French (written and spoken)
