Mission<\/p>\r\n\t

This landscaping project transforms a residual site into a true open-air learning space. Inspired by District Central’s farmer’s market heritage and its current agri-food vocation, the site offers a thoughtful, educational approach where the landscape becomes a tool for sharing, discovery, and connection.<\/p>\r\n

This “chic construction site” transforms an urban corner into a living laboratory. It is a place to learn through the senses, exchange through action, and cultivate community ties as much as plants-a tangible demonstration that urban design can be useful, beautiful… and nourishing.<\/p>\r\n\t

Nourish<\/p>\r\n\t

Designed as a “food forest,” the layout features a rich diversity of edible plants-apple trees, dwarf cherry trees, honeyberries, blueberries, and hardy kiwis. These provide constant opportunities to raise awareness about urban agriculture and biodiversity, allowing citizens to observe and learn about edible landscaping firsthand.<\/p>\r\n\t

Learn<\/p>\r\n\t

The path highlights the unique characteristics of each species and the principles of eco-responsible maintenance. The vegetation evolves with the seasons, offering a living lesson on the natural cycles of various species.<\/p>\r\n\t

Gather<\/p>\r\n\t

The central house-shaped structure acts as both a symbolic and functional landmark. People gather here around a large table made from repurposed scaffolding. All the furniture-benches, fences, and planters-is built from salvaged materials from the Simplex workshops, demonstrating the concrete possibilities of circularity.<\/p>\r\n\t
